To educate people on the urgent need for inclusive healthcare, Mx Disney Aguila, co-executive director of Bahaghari Center for SOGIE Research, Education and Advocacy, Inc. (Bahaghari Center), gave a lecture for the candidates of Mr. And Ms. Health 2025, as well as staff of the Tondo Medical Center (TMC).

In inviting Aguila, TMC hoped to “inspire inclusivity, compassion, and greater awareness”, which is supposedly aligned with its “mission to promote equitable healthcare and advocacy for all”.

According to Aguila, being inclusive is a given, “and is recognized as necessary by all”. And yet “many actually find a hard time in ascertaining the ‘how’, which is why implementing inclusive policies becomes challenging.”

For Aguila, a Deaf transgender woman, “actually hearing from those at the fringes of society, those who should be included, is always a great first step to do this.”
